The Bold and the Beautiful
One of the big trends in home design is the introduction of the unexpected- whether that is creating hidden kitchens, featuring juxtaposing colour schemes or adding pops of metallic. Laminex has created five new decors for their metallic range, from shimmering gold to brushed brass.
They say “it’s all in the details”, well when the details are eye catching metallic this statement is very true. Adding subtle yet lustrous details to otherwise plain elements can create a unique and fun feature piece. These details can be added to almost any component; shelving, kitchen kickers, front panel joints, the space in-between wall panels or the shadow-line of benchtops. Brushed bronze and shiny gold touches and different lines can be the details that take a small part of your home and turn it into a statement.
Lush furniture tends to feature dusty pinks with bronze or teal with gold, however this is starting to creep into different areas such as cabinets and lighting. The small pops of colour in cabinetry or pendant lighting can create a dynamic feature image, and these little touches are easier to change further down the road when you might want to ‘jazz it up’ again. To create a striking contrast pair a metallic with warm tones and timber finishes or pastels such as soft blues, apricots, dusty pinks, mint greens and of course the colour of the year- coral.
One significant development in the world of metallic is amongst utilitarian kitchen appliances; objects such as rangehoods and cupboards are receiving the Midas touch. One kitchen trend for the year is the blurring of the kitchen space with the living area and a way of achieving this is by displaying crockery as though it were an art piece or book. Placing crockery on a statement glass shelf frame by gold or brass would be a great way of achieving this blend.
Laminex has created these new decors with trends in mind therefore they can seamlessly fit into a domestic or commercial environment.
